Melissa Rogers is the distinguished scholar in faith, law, and public policy at Wake Forest University School of Divinity and a nonresident senior fellow in the Governance Studies program at the Brookings Institution. Her work focuses on religious liberty in the United States, the intersection of religion and public policy, and partnerships between government and faith-based organizations. She has served in senior leadership roles in the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships under Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, where she directed national initiatives engaging faith communities in public service. Rogers previously led the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life and served as general counsel for the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs. She is the author of Faith in American Public Life and coauthor of Religious Freedom and the Supreme Court. She holds a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University.
