Jefferson Shupe

Utah State Co-Coordinator

Jefferson’s passion for working across boundaries was evident in Switzerland as a young missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There, he established a weekly partnership with a local Catholic charity. Missionaries lifted and packed the heavy crates with items prepared by the elderly women of the parish, to be shipped to developing nations.

He is the author of the successful YA novel The Bathwater Brigade, which he wrote for his kids. Through the backdrop of a racial tragedy in a college town, the reader learns not just how, but why to seek out nuance in a complex world, and how finding good intentions on the opposite side can change everything.

Jefferson gives workshops to parents and students on finding common ground and other skills that prepare them to confidently engage in modern society.

He currently serves as Utah State Coordinator (Red) for Braver Angels, and lives with his wife Stacie and four teenage and young adult children in Ogden, Utah.
