Imam Sulaiman Salaam has served as imam of the Al Haqq Islamic Center in Kansas City, Missouri, for more than 20 years. A student of the late Imam W. D. Mohammed, he has been actively engaged in interfaith work throughout his ministry. In 1998, he traveled to the Vatican as part of a delegation participating in interfaith dialogue with Catholic leaders, and he later returned to Rome as a representative of the American Muslim community. Salaam has served on councils focused on Muslim and Jewish relations in Kansas City and has collaborated with numerous interfaith organizations. He has also spoken at churches throughout the region and served as a chaplain for the Kansas City Council, working alongside clergy from diverse religious traditions.
